Part 1 Membership
The Part 1 Membership Examination assesses a wide range of knowledge in basic sciences.
The examination content includes anatomy and embryology of the head and neck including the central nervous system and, in particular, the visual system. Knowledge of general principles of physiology is required with an emphasis on their relation to the visual system.
In addition to this, a basic knowledge of genetics, molecular biology, pharmacology, immunology, microbiology and pathology is required. Questions on basic statistical methods may also be included.
