One doesnt need to be a topper of an exam to extend a helping hand to others, one just needs to communicate well, thats all.
Hi there Future plabbers,
First i would like to tell you incase you havent booked a date for your plab1 then think twice before doing so.
I did give my plab1, I was warned by many but atleast tommorow i cant raise a finger accusing others for not having told me how tough it is for an overseas doctor these days in uk.
So if inspite of knowing all that your still are willing to give plab1 please feel free to read on.
Yes pals i will give you easy ways of gearing up for the plab1 on 11th nov which is just 5weeks away so to say.
Read your handbooks well, especially the medicine handbook.Surgery at plab1 level is simple and if you ahve been thorough in med school you can tackle the questions along with fine tuneing during model test papers and past papes, but dont ignore it,i sujjest you read your surgery handbook daily few pages while in bed before sleeping just as you would read a novel, for recap.Clinical specialities handbook one good reading should suffice if follwed up well by exam papers.
When doing exam papers rememeber accuracy is not all you should bother about, try to time yourself,Since plab1 is 3hrs at home u should give yourself not more than 2.5hrs as remember in plab1 exam the questions are actually much longer than those given in past papers as these are from recap done by students who dont rememeber the whole question, plus you have no stress while your solving the paper at home.
Meanwhile when you are assessing your answers in past papers, keep a separate diary where you must make notes of things which you have never ever heard before but have figured in past papers(if possible make a note of page where you have read it).
Last few days you should quickly go through all the past papes you have already solved and read and recheck all questions which you were bad in(you can locate these by putting a red mark on them while you had solved the papers).
Rest is all destiny,so put in your efforts and leave the rest upto a supreme power and the GMC
:-)
Hope this post of mine benefits atleast a few!!!!!
With best wishes for a brighter future.
Your rxpg friend
