PLAB Jobs

WELL I AM NO GURU TO GIVE ADVICE ON ANYTHING LIKE THIS.

BUT I JUST WANTED TO SHARE MY VIEWS ON THIS TOPIC!!!

HOPE IT HELPS SOMEONE AS IT DID HELP ME!!!

Many ways of getting an attachment-

I tried out many ways of doing so but finally what helped was Praying really hard.

i will enumerate all the ways i tried to get an attachment in sequential order-

1)first i made a list of all the people i knew in uk,sho or registrar or more senior.i wrote/called them up and asked them if they could assist in any way.

usually people say this is ur best bet to get an attchmenT,unfortunaly it didnt work for me.before i got my plab1 results many gave High hopes and promises but once i got my results and got back in touch with my contacts, many just went underground.the other few diplomatic contacts replied asking for my CV but then just said things r tough and getting attachment is difficult.

if thats the reply u get from them then take it for granted that this person wont Go out of his/her way to help u out.

BUT MARK MY WORDS THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO GET AN ATTCHMENT IN TODAYS TIME!!!!!!!

2)second way is contact SHOs or people from rxpg who are in the system at UK and ask them for contact details of doctors in their hospitals or if they have access to contact details of docs via www.specialistinfo.com ask them to give u that details.

then with these contact address you can either email/call/post a request for clinical attachment,it is said that the worst way of coomunication is email as they dont respond, but trust me i have used only emails so far and they do reply, more often saying not possible but keep the faith and keep sending applications via ur chosen route adn one fine day one doc will say yes.

that is why i said better to choose docs who already have taken people for attahcmnts as ur sure then that they do take attaches under them.

in case this also doesnt work out try the last trick, regional feelings are sometimes strong in some communities so try finding out if any doctor from ur state/country is taking clinical attaches adn apply to him/her.

another tip is to apply atleast 3months in advance,so if u want attachmnt for april/may start applying now cause many good helpful docs have a waiting list of 6months,i had applied for my attchmnt in feb 2006 way back in oct 2005 i think.

3)randomly key in names of doctors which are common in the uk and check in google for their contact details,u may say it sounds crazy but during my desparate days i even resorted to doing that.

4)once u get a break in one hospital if u find the atmosphere nice and healthy then try to continue in the same place and while ur doing ur attahcment float ur cv around the other docs too, thats another thing many people do.

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY ASK SOME FRIEND WHO HAS ATTENDED A BMJ CAREERS CV WORKSHOP TO HAVE A LOOK AT UR CV AND EDIT IT ACCORDINGLY AS CV MAKES AN IMPRESSION.

IF THATS NOT POSSIBLE EMAIL IT TO A SENIOR CONSULTNT AT UK WHO U MAY KNOW AND ASK HIM FOR SUJJESTIONS ON HOW TO IMPROVE UR CV.

i had a friend edit my cv,he did not add anything extra which i havent done,i am still the same person with the same degrees and same everything but just an altered more presentble Cv and trust me that helps.earlier docs would reply saying sorry i cant take u for attchmnt since m booked now but now some reply saying nice CV but sorry i am over booked and cant take u. thats sounds better to the ear hehehehehhe.

THINGS ARE TOUGH OUT HERE BUT WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH THE TOUGH GET GOING.

u wont believe it when i logged onto the net today i was feeling low and apprehensive about life but after replying to some people in here adn writting this article i am happy and ready to face another day in the UK no matter what comes my way(i just hope this spirit lives on till tommorow morning hhahahahahah)

BESTA LUCK GUYS N GALS WITH ATTACHMENT HUNTING!!!!!
