MRCP Part 1

MRCP(UK) Part 2 Clinical Examination (PACES) to be held at UK Centres in June - July 2003

Any candidate who has visited or been domiciled in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Greater Toronto or Singapore in the three weeks before the Examination will not be admitted to the MRCP(UK) Part 2 Clinical Examination (PACES) to be held at UK Centres in June-July 2003.

All candidates may also be required to complete a declaration at the Clinical Centre they are allocated to. This declaration is to confirm that they have not visited or been domiciled in any SARS-affected area (to be specified in the declaration) and have not knowingly been in contact with any SARS-affected person after 01 June 2003. An example of the declaration, which may be revised before the date of the examination, is available here. Any candidate who fails to sign the declaration will not be permitted to sit the examination.

Candidates who are excluded from the Examination for this reason will be allowed to apply for the next available Examination convenient to them after these restrictions are lifted.

MRCP(UK) Part 2 Clinical Examination (PACES) to be held in Singapore 7-9 June 2003

The MRCP(UK) Part 2 Clinical Examination (PACES) due to be held in Singapore 7-9 June 2003 has been cancelled by the host centre. It is hoped that the Examination will be re-scheduled later in 2003. It will not be possible to transfer affected candidates to any other centre for this diet. All application forms and fees will therefore be returned.

Financial loss through cancellation of travel

The Royal Colleges of Physicians cannot accept liability for financial loss through cancellation of travel related to SARS.

Updated arrangements

These arrangements are exceptional and the MRCP(UK) Policy Committee will keep matters under constant review and update this notice at least weekly.

If there are any matters candidates or examiners wish to bring to the attention of the MRCP(UK) Policy Committee, please forward these to the Head of the MRCP(UK) Central Office:
