(Post-graduate Degree/Diploma Courses)

The following post-graduate degree and diploma courses are available in the Medical College and its associated hospitals at Rohtak.

(A) Post Graduate Degree Courses :

(i) M.D. in Medicine, Skin and V.D., obstetrics and Gynaecology, Radiology, Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases, Forensic Medicine, Physiology, Bio-Chemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Social and Preventive Medicine and Pharmacology.

ii) M.S. in Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaeedics, ENT and Anatomy

iii) Ph.D. in Bio-Chemistry and Pharmacology.

(b) Post Graduate Diploma courses :

Following Diploma Courses are availble :

a) DCH

b) D.G.O.

c) D.A.

d) D.T.C.D.

e) D.O.M.S.

f) D.L.O.

g) D.M.R.D.

h) D.V.D.

i) D.Ortho.

Note : Details regarding the courses availab,e eligibility, procedure for admission etc. are to be obtained from the office of the Dircetor-Principal, Medical College, Rohtak, Separately.

General Inforamtion

1. Application on the printed form for admission to the above courses of studies should reach the Controller of Examinations, M.D. University, Rohtak, by the date specified in the advertisement. (probably February, each year)

2. The duration of the diploma courses shall be one calendar year.

3. The duration of the Post-Graduate Degree Course shall be ordinarily two calendary yeas.

4. Admission to those courses shall be made by the M.D. University, Rohtak strictly on the basis of merit determined mainly by (a) academic record (b) written test and (c) interview.

Note : Determination of merit shall be made in accordances with the guidelines explained in Appendix - A.

1. Number of Seats :

The total number of seats for these courses in individual subjects or departments are stribtly limited and are open to all eligible candidates subject to the considerations listed below :

i) Presently, the number of seats* available for M.D./M.S. Courses is 69 and for Diploma Courses 40 (* + approximate)

The number is liable to increase or decrease by the Govt. of Haryana/University.

ii) Candidates who areselected for M.D./M.S. Course and are not in service/employment may be paid stipend at the rate and terms determined by the Govt. of Haryana. Departmental students will not be entitled to any such stipend.

iii) Procedure for applying for Post-graduate Courses :

(a) Admission to Post-Graduate Courses shall be anounced every year by advertisement in a few leading regional or national News-Papers Annual admission to these courses are made in the motn of January and the regular session will begin on Ist February every year.

(b) A copy of the prospectus, containing an Admission form, can be obtained from the office of the Assistant Registrar (General) either in person or on a written request on payment of Rs. 3/- in cash and through registered/ordinary post with crossed IPO of value of Rs. 7/- (Regd. Post) or Rs. 5/-(ordinary post) payable to the Chief Accounts Officer, M.D. University, Rohtak, Payment by Cheque, money order or by any other form will not be accepted.

(c) Application form duly completed in candidate's own handwriting should be submitted to the office of the controller of Examinations, M.D. University, Rohtak either personally or sent under Registered cover and should be accompained by the application fee of Rs. 40/- for each course be crossed IPO (s) payable to the Chief Accounts Officer M.D. University, Rohtak.

Note : - 1) Application should clearly specify the name(s) of courses(s) (degree and/or diploma) for which he is applying and in chronological order of preference for the course(s) he/she wishes to be considered for.

2) A separate application form is required to be submitted for each of the degree and/or diploma courses and these extra forms will be available on payment of Rs. 2/- per application form. Separate application fee will be requried to be deposited for each course applied for.

(d) Those in employmenht are required to submit their application through "Proper Channel" incorporating forwarding remarks of the Employer Head of the Dept. Application may, however, be submitted in the form of an 'advance copy' provided the regular copy of the application, complete in all respects, reaches the concerned officer (see above) by the date of interview.

(e) The application form should be accompanied by attested copied of relevant certificates substantiating the academic performance during the MBBS course, detailed marks sheets, experieices certificate for rotating internship and house job, or relevant certificates of services in lieu thereof and copies of certificates substantiating any claim for credit on accont off academic and co-curricular achievements. The college from where MBBS course has been completed should be specifically mentioned in the appropriate column of the application form. The column certifying the number of attempts in University MBBS examination must be signed by the Princial of Medical College studied. Alternatively, an original certificate signed by the Principal of the Medical College studied should be attached with the application form. Candidates should carefully study Appendix "A" and send the required certificate to obtain the desired credit marks. Originals must be produced at the time of interview.

(f) The application form and the application fee will not be returned/refunded.

(g) Any attempt on the part of a candidate, his parents or relatives to convass or bring influence to bear upon the Univesity, directly or indirectly, for securing admission will be disqualification for admission.

(h) The candidate is to be admitted on the basis of information submitted by him and if, at any subsequent time, it is discovered that any protion of this information is incorrect the student will be removed from the college and all fess and other dues paid up till the date of such removal shall be forfeited. Besides, the Univesity may take any further action against that student as it may deem suitable.

(i) Application form should be filled in carefully and must be legible. Those which are incomplete in respect of the required particulars of lack the essential documents will not be considered.

(j) No judicial proceedings will lie against the University/Selection Committee/Interview Board/Director - Principal for :

(i) Any bonafide error that may occure in the selection of any candidate for admission.

(ii) rejection of any claims whatsoever, of candidats of any category;

(iii) refusing to accept a certificate as equivalent to that specified :

(iv) rejecting a studnet without any reason for the same; and

(v) any other reason pertaining to admission of students.

Procedure for selection :

(i) The applications will be duly screened for determining the merit based upon the makrs obtained in the various University examinations of the MBBS course

(ii) Admission to Post-Graduate degree or diploma coursees is open to all eligible candidates. 25% the total number of available seats for each course is to be filled by open merit on All India basis. The remaining seats, of the total seats for each course will be fore those who have qualified/completed their MBBS course form Medical College, Rohtak.

(iii) Candidates will be asked to come to Medical College, Rohtak on the date and time (to be indicated either in the advertisement or in the application form) for appearing in a competitive theory (objective type paper) examination in the subject of the course of study. The paper will be of three hour's duration and will have 200 questions.

Note : Those whose applications are incomplete, especially for those who are in employment in any capacity, must have submitted their applications through proper channel with the employers remakrs or must submit a "No Objection Certificate" from the employer for appearing in the interview, confirming the employer's permission to join the course in the event of selection.

(v) Final Merit List List will be prepared based upon the candidate's academic record, performance in the written test and experience. the candidate will be called for admission to post-graduate courses strictly on merit.

(vi) The selection committee/interviewing board shall exercise full control in determining a candidate's suitability to pursue post-graduate courses. Only those candidates who are considered suitable will be admitted to the course of study and the reasons of rejection will not be divulged to the candidate.

Note : All available seats are, therefore, NOT necessary to be filled from amongst the eligible candidates for a parpticular course and the decision of the selection committee/interviewing-board and the Vice-chancellor in this regard will be final.

(vii) A candidate admitted to one course of study will not be allowed a change to another course ordinarily.

(viii) all admissions to the various post-graduate courses in the Medical Colege, Rohtak on the basis of the application, test and interview are provisional subject to confirmation by the M.D. University.

(ix) Candidates will tender in their fees within the period stipulated by the Director-Principal Medical College, Rohtak after being provisionally admitted. Failure to do so will entail cancellation of admission.

(x) Candidates who are put on the 'waiting list' shall be offered a seat, if available, for admission only upto 30 days from the start of the coruse of study after which time no admission will be allowed.

(xi) The rule given in the above prospectus are subject to change or modification by the University without prior intimation.


Eligible candidates (see below) must be citizens of India. Foreign nationals may, in exceptional circumstances, by also considered for admission of which permission/sanction of the Govt. of Haryana and the University will be a necessary precondition.

The following conditions must be fulfilled before being eligible for admission to various post-graduate coruses upto the date of written test :-

A. MD/MS and Diploma Coruses in Clinical subjects :

i) After passing MBBS the candidate should have completed of one year's rotating internship.

B. For MD/MS admission in non-clinical subjects

i) MBBS degree (after completion of rotating internship)

ii) The duratin of the courses shall be three years for those who do not posses the one year house job in any subject or it equivalence.

iii) Above or do not possessone year service experiences as demonstrator/ researchp scholar/or equivalent position in the concerned department or subject prior to applying for the course.

Note :-

1. Admissibility of stipends will be be as per Govt. rules.

2. the candidates with more than 4 extra attemps during their MBBS course are not eligible for post-graduate courses in the Medical College, Rohtak.

3. The candidates are allowed to apply for a maximum of 3 post-graduate courses only. But if applying for a diploma course in one of the subjects for which the candidate has applied for a degree course as well, the upper limit may be relaxed to a total of such courses of study.
