Vacancy

The Ministry of health , Malaysia usually has vacant positions as Medical officers and Specialists and looks for overseas doctors with suitable qualifications on a contractual basis in various disciplines.

The applications can be obtained from the Ministry office.

Academic Qualification

Medical officer
Undergraduate degree such as MBBS or MD from Institutions recognised by Medical council of Malaysia.

Specialist
Post graduate degrees such as FRCS from Institutions recognised by Medical council of Malaysia.
(see below for unrecognised post graduate degree holders)

Work Experience

Medical officer
A minimum of five years working experience as a medical officer in any Government Institution.

Specialist
A minimum of three years working experience as a specialist with a Post graduate degrees such as FRCS from Institutions recognised by Malaysian Medical council or five years working experience as a specialist with a post graduate degree not recognised by the Malaysian medical council

Age Limit

Medical officer
45 years and below

Specialist
50 years and below

Remuneration

Medical officer
Basic salary RM 1713.00 - 3231.00 per month as per experience
Service allowance RM 170.00 per month
Critical service allowance RM 5% of basic salary per month
Housing allowance RM 110.00 per month
Specialist
Basic salary RM 3131.00 - 4025.00 per month as per experience
Specialist allowance RM 1200.00 RM 1500.00 per month
Critical service allowance RM 5% of basic salary per month
Housing allowance RM 700.00 per month
Entertainment allowance RM 500.00 per month

Fees

The candidate pays following fees:

RM 200.00 to the department of Immigration for the employment pass
RM 100.00 to the Malaysian Medical Council for registration
Duration Of Contract

Initially for three years which can be extended to a maximum of two terms of two years each

Private Hospital Contracts

Private hospital positions are rather difficult to obtain but it is possible for suitably qualified candidates as specialists/ consultants.

In the first instance doctors need to liaise with the private hospitals.

There are various hurdles such as work permit, Immigration, medical council registration and private hospital levy etc.
