Ranchi, Dec 13 : Two medical college students in this Jharkhand capital have been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on charges of using leaked question papers to gain admission to the institute.
The students of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Science have been taken to Patna. They were nabbed as part of a CBI probe into a multimillion rupee racket involving the leaking of papers for medical and management entrance exams.
First year student Ajit Kumar and second year student Ranjit Sahu allegedly got admission to the college after buying the question papers for the entrance exam.
They were taken away from the hostel of the institute in the first arrests in the scam in this state. CBI officials did not rule out further arrests.
Ranjit Don, the alleged mastermind of the scandal, is said to have charged between Rs.500,000 and Rs1.5 million from each student for one question paper.
