As per my view KDT being a newer adition drugs are also new. While the older drugs which are banned or not being used nowadays are not present in it. So the burdan is decreased. On the other hand Satoshkar is the best for drug therapy of certain diseases. It's good for knowledge. In short KDT should be prefered more than....

what i did was KDT first satoskar selectively for some topics like treatment of status asthmaticus,a few misc chaps like hyprbaric oxygen,drugs & pregnancy,ocular pharma............the sec on hormones is excellent in satoskar.......this is because it is written by an endocrinologist frm Seth GS...............
I don't think there are any new drugs in new KDT that r nt given in satoskar.............
But if u ask me satskar is much better than KDT I regret the fact that I did nt use satoskar as the main bk & KDT as a side bk..............

hi!
i think the best book for parmac is goodman n gilman...just try to read if u wan to prepare for further exams... otherwise notes is enough to pass exam...

Satoskar or Sharma is good for General Phamacology
K D Tripathi for the rest.....it is difficult to understand general pharmac from KDT
Also try reading Goodman & Gilman. It is a very good book. The book strengthens ur concepts very well.....

You are absolutely right but the thing is that its very difficult 2 read such a voluminous book in a span of 1 1/2 yrs of 2nd MBBS &later also!!

KDT is decent....I feel u can read it easily.....
The thing wid voluminous books like Goodman & Gilman is dat u should learn to skim-read.....filter out watever is not needed n read wat is necessary n learn to read faster.....for dis go by ur instincts as well as by wat is taught in class....
Remember skim-reading i.e. reading faster many times is better than reading slowly line by line once....

Well....read KDT first.....based on the topics given in KDT read G & G.....remember use G&G as a reference.....if u keep it as ur main book it will be difficult.....
