Langman is a good book if you have the time and interest to do embryology throughly!
Also,i.b.singh is good for embryology in short!
dutta for anat is great ,especially abdomen n thorax.
hope this helps.

yea.first year is particularly tough for students who have just passed out their 12 th grades..its good to be serious enough from now on..
regarding the books..
anatomy-chaurasia 3 volumes along with netters human anatomy atlas(this book,i love it seriously)
physiology-sembulingam combined with guyton
Biochemistry-satyanarayan only.
if u need additional refrences in biochemistry, rana shinde is the best one..
i hope this answers ur question

should a 1st yr MBBS student solve MCQs for PG entrance??If so,which books??
Can anyone give a set of books for a subject,i.e,text and MCQs?
|
|
|

to solve quality mcqs u require an indepth knowledge.... which is difficult to have in 1st year...
but still if u wanna keep into the habbit of mcq's tats good....
but going into a battle ground without enough preparations is meaningless.
load of mcq books are available... check the market.

books for 1st mbbs
dear friends
better read those books from which questions come from in aipg.
following is the list:
1.Anatomy - BDC,SNELL
better buy an atlas as it gives a very good conception about anatomy,as anatomy is a very volalite suject.
2.Neuroanatomy - I B SINGH
3.Physiology - GANONG (its a must for ur undergraduate physiology as well as preparation for ur AIPG)
During the last 1-2 months before exam,u can go through A.B.MAHAPATRA as its a concised one. But never ever leave ganong.
3.Biochemistry - satyanarayan. Genetics from lippincot. If possible go through HARPER as its the boook for AIPG.However if not possible, then satyanarayan & lippincot will suffice
best of luck
with regards
drsayan

If you wanna good.
Read
Greys Anatomy for Student ( Not that mainstream huge book) for Anatomy
Ganong for Physiology
Lippincott Biochemistry
Langman's Embryology
These books are international standards, and very interesting than Indian authors.
PS With these books you may not score good, but no concepts in Medical field gonna bother you anymore............
Try to be a conceptual guy rather than parrot..........

Here's what I read:
Ana: BDC, mcminn's atlas, gray's for reference & also it has really good illustrations 2 hlp understand the subject better, also attend all the dissections.
Physio: A K Jain for exams & guyton for reference
Ppl say ganong is a very good book, but i never read it so can't say, but I guess 2 books are sufficient for physio.
Biochem: satyanarayan for exams & harper for reference. Harper has really good charts for metabolism.
Hope it helps.
P. S. I wont suggest doing mcqs from first year itself. Start mcqs from 2nd yr.
