Actually rxpg has recently taken all the scores of a member perfectly doing copy paste work n literally irritating at times...
i was thinking n worried tht... if i ve been also categorized with him ???
anyways today for the first time i ve touched frequency of 20-25 post a day.. which is ur usual freq. i ve noticed in ur profile..
so i think i shudnt worry
c how crazy i am day after tom. i ve my pgi chandighar xam, n i m worried over this matter..

well, every time someone replies to your post (not you), your credits jump up a notch! So the only "other way" of earning more credits is to make relevant and interesting posts which will generate some replies from the community!

Hi Team RXPG,
I have two queries regarding credits system.
1. Are you planning to start credit system for articles, reviews, downloads and mneumonics too?
2. Is there a system or way in which people can give reputation points. I don't think the vote system works so perfectly, as it is not always displayed along your ID? Any future solutions coming up for this?

1. Yes. Implementing the credits for articles and other contributions is underway.
2. The votes and the trust rank will be displayed against the user id as soon as we figure out a way to implement them without compromising the website speed. The last time we tried it, the server loads went way up.

well, trust rank signifies the relevance of their posts and the popularity if their contributions in the forums. It takes into account your RxPG credits, your total posts, your seniority in RxPG, your regularity in visiting RxPG, the frequency wth which you answer other people's queries, the page views of your posts and several other things.
Unlike the credit system, it can not be inflated by making useless posts. And if there is a major discrepancy between the trust rank and the credits, the system alerts us to the fact, so that we can check and see whether a person is just spamming or making useful posts in forums!

Thanks for the encouraging words leprechaun. The picture with the nick is known as "avatar" and can be easily set by selecting from thousands of avatars in RxPG avatar gallery. To do that you need to go to the link "edit profile" (seen on top of every page, by the side of main RxPG logo, just below your name). On the bottom of this page you will find a link to edit your avatar, just use the button "show gallery" and select the avatar you like! Although it is not a difficult process, please let us know if you run in any trouble.

Well Team RXPG, i get the theory behind Trust Ranks, but i don't see any practicality behind it. I have seen people with too little credit having higher trust ranks and low contribution. While there are others who help out of their way but don't have any trust rank?? Was just wondering what are the rules in your constitution for getting a trust rank. Is it just given to those who start a thread, or even to them who just post in between??? Who gives a trust rank - the other members or the moderators or Team RXPG?

Your credits increase immediately when someone replies to your message regardless of your login. It happens only when you are the author of the thread (i.e. the one who started the thread).
Credits are not calculated for any quoted text, only original text is calculated for credit purposes.

Well, the actual calculation method is kep confidential (to avoid spamming), but we did realize that you deserve a higher trust rank. We have asked our techs to solve this bug in the algorithm.

Well Team RXPG, i agree with you fully that the method has to be kept under wraps as that would certainly lead to spamming.
And no i never wanted any trust ranks along my name. That was the whole basis of my discussion on the offbeat forum, booing the Mr and MISS Friendly RXPG.You can go through that thread to know what i did not like.
If a person helps, it is because of his own goodwill and should not be tempted into "kissa kursi ka" politics.
I do it because i just like helping people out. As you may have seen in all my posts there is very little i gained from the discussions on my posts and majority were to help others get the information easily which i originally got with difficulty.
Anyway hope i atleast did proofreading of your algorithm for trust rank to get the "bug' in it.
Keep up the good work that you are doing. and thank you very much for replying to all my queries and stupid questions and wishes.

well i would like to quote , may be a small discrepancy in trust rank calculation ... at times important posts like suggestions, information etc. which may otherwise not attract many replies adversely affect the trust rank....of the initiator of the thread..this no way is the indicator that the post wasn't important or relevant.
moreover decrease in the trust rank after starting a thread may be a real obstacle in encouraging people to post in the forums.
hence atleast decrement in the trust rank jus on the pretext of starting a thread shud otherwise be rectified....( except when the user is spamming and i think that shud be reported by the fellow users to the moderators (or moderators themselves may see) who in turn shud see and report to the support team appropriately for necessary action. )
hope these things may be taken care of and i think shud certainly boost relevant participation.

Yes, when i had no trust rank (in a way good due to the bug in system), nobody cared anything about reading my posts or not. but now when the bug has been corrected i have been given a trust rank of 4/10, which gets prefixed ideas in the readers minds. That means out of every 10 messages i post only 4 should be read and trusted for the matter in them.
Was good to be without one atleast i was free to post!!! Now i have to try hard to post atleast 4 truthful posts out of 10! Difficult job......

well advisor i totally agree with u that we are here to mutually help each other... and it least matters to me that my trust rank/credit points is low or high , i'll keep on posting things which i otherwise think are beneficial for my peers.
so i think careless attitude towards these petty things certainly relieve my anxieties ...i wish it 'll help u 2.
but pointing out flaws in any existing system is relevant , so our concerns here... after all even trust rank of 10 with 100 million credit points may not get the desired goals and vice versa..

Well, we have been using the concept of trust rank to detect spamming in forums. If there is a wide discrepancy between trust rank and user credits, the system automatically flags the user for our review. As you can understand, it is very difficult for us to review each and every post, so we devised this algorithm to help us.
The other place where it is useful is while selecting the moderators as we usually (not always, as there are exceptions) accept new mods whose trust rank is more than 95 percentile of trust ranks of all users.
The bug has been partially corrected now and your trust rank should improve. The problem that remain is that the sensitivity of the score has decreased but we will keep working on it.

I guess you are doing a wonderful job in keeping such a humongous thing together. hats off to you. I humbly accept whatever trust rank is given to me and promise in future won't crib over it, as it helps you guys to keep this forum going. well there are many areas of the website which you can not access without a required number of credits. May be you didn't realise that as you have more than enough credits.
We are also trying to negotiate deals with some coaching institutes wherein they will give some discount on the basis of credits!

i wouldn't mind getting some credits as well and fast, this is taking a lot of effort i hope the seciotns that you need credits to view are worth the effort, i'm and are gernerally worthwhile.
i may as well write alot as i may be getting a credit for every millioneth (i know its not a real word) character that i type as well. maybe i should post my thesis online here? or is that one of the clever things that the system would creen out?
