Additional USMLE Step 2 CS spaces to open from 17 Feb 2005

On February 17, additional USMLE Step 2 CS testing spaces will be opened at all Clinical Skills Evaluation Centers. The additional test sessions will be opened on test dates throughout April 2005. IMGS waiting for step 2 CS results should proceed with match registration

If you plan to participate in the 2005 Match, and you completed Step 2 CS testing on or before December 31, you should proceed with Match registration and the completion and certification of your rank order

USMLE Step 2 CS can now be given before USMLE Step 1

A recent change to the eligibility requirements for taking Step 2 CS allows medical school students to apply for Step 2 CS after completing at least two years of medical school. This eligibility requirement means that students must have completed the basic medical science component of the medical school curriculum. Before this change, students were required to be within 12 months of completing the medical school curriculum before applying for Step 2 CS.
A second change has eliminated the examination prerequisite for Step 2 CS. This means that applicants for Step 2 CS are no longer required to have passed Step 1....

As previously announced, the initial release of results for Step 2
Clinical Skills (CS) has been delayed. The purpose of this delay is to
allow for administration of the examination to a number of examinees
that is adequate to permit completion of quality assurance, scoring, and
equating procedures. This work is nearly complete for examinations at
the Philadelphia and Atlanta centers, the first two centers to open for
