USMLE Step 2 CS can now be given before USMLE Step 1

A recent change to the eligibility requirements for taking Step 2 CS allows medical school students to apply for Step 2 CS after completing at least two years of medical school. This eligibility requirement means that students must have completed the basic medical science component of the medical school curriculum. Before this change, students were required to be within 12 months of completing the medical school curriculum before applying for Step 2 CS. As previously announced, the initial release of results for Step 2 Clinical Skills (CS) has been delayed. The purpose of this delay is to allow for administration of the examination to a number of examinees that is adequate to permit completion of quality assurance, scoring, and equating procedures. This work is nearly complete for examinations at the Philadelphia and Atlanta centers, the first two centers to open for Step 2 CS administration.
