Hi.
I would like to know what are the prospects of getting a good residency in the US once you have the USMLE cleared .
I've heard that getting into a surgical speciality is very tough for IMG's.
What r the factors , other than ur mle scores which determine ur chances at getting a residency.
How important is research and getting some publications ?
Does indian research xp count ?
Is the US PG degree recognised in India ?

There is nothing like some research xp. Get it and you will be in a better boat.

Publications do help but only if they are the indexed journals. Not in any obsolete indian journal.

Surgical specialities are hard to come by but still some people do manage to get them
