Quick Scroll Surgery - Suture Marks. 08.25.04 (4 years ago) #1

Hiiiii

I came across a ques. in PG Plus :-

To avoid suture marks, skin sutures should be removed by :-

a) 72 hours b) 1 week c) 2 weeks d) 3 weeks ?

They gave the answer as 1 week, but i distinctly remember , during
internship v used to call back the patients after 8 days for suture
removal & they did get suture marks later .

So what would be the most appropriate answer ?
Any references ?

i think it depends on site........

LB 24th says..........

non-absor. sutures shud b removed from:

FACE.........2-3 days

SCALP....... 5 days

UPPER LIMB & GROIN..........7 days

ABDOMEN.................10 days

DORSUM & LOWER TRUNK.........10-14 days.

i think the q. is a little bit incomplete...........for this please check the

same q.( with the help of its yr in which it is asked) in different mcq

books like PARIHAR ( known for its accuracy of reproducing q ) & SALGU.
