Laboratory methods that require more than 1 h to provide a clear diagnosis of malaria are not considered rapid tests.

Immunochromatography based tests are the best method of rapid diagnosis of malaria
The new tests use both LDH and HRP-II and give different and distinct bands for both falciparum and vivax .
Some of the kits available with this enzymes are Optimal and Paramax.
Secondly you don`t have to use serum,even whole blood can be used.
This is fast replacing the traditional method of diagnosing Malaria through Peripheral smear in the community and the rural areas because of its high sensitivity and specificity.
