answer shud be 3 as we will be aiming to increase the pitch which is done by shortening of vocal cord .........

The frequency (or subjectively, the pitch) of a string is directly proportional to the tension in the string.

So, when the vocal cord is shortened ---> Tension is decreased ---> Frequency decreses ---> Voice becomes more masculine.

When the vocal cord is lenghtened ---> Tension increases ---> Frequency increase ---> Voice becomes more feminine.

Here, the question says correction of "androphonia", which means that a person has a "male"-ish voice and the aim of the treatment would be to raise the frequency by lenghtening the cord. That's why the answer is Type IV Isshiki Thyroplasty.

Androphonia is corrected by type 4 thyroplasty.
indications for type 4 areexceessively low pitch in women due to anabolic or androgen hormone,
patient with gender identity disorder who want their pitch raised.
and paralysis of cricothyroid muscle

type 1 is medialisation--in VC paralysis or VC atrohpy
type 2 is lateralisation- in severe adductor spasmodic dysphonia
type 3 is relaxation of vocal fold to lower the vocal pitch-- in lowering vocal pitch for excessive high pitch in males
type4 is tensing or stretching of vocal fold to raise the pitch by approximating cricothyriod
