i think the question is incomplete... its should mention for how long steroids have been given...
if its more than 6 to 8 weeks then we can swutch over to surgical line of treatment.
but before that other methods should be tried like electric nerve stimulation.
i would go for option 3 as option 1 would be more drastic to take ... i would reserve it as the last resort!!!1

surgical decompression
electrical nerve stimulation is done to assess prognosis and diagnosis type of nerve injury,no role therapeutically. electrical muscle stimulation is given occassionally for therapeutic purpose with equivocal results

answer should be surgery

I'm a bit confused now!! Assess prognosis in what sense? wld it tell us the chances of recovery if we go for surgical decompression? If yes, then electrial nerve stimulation cld be done too, & it cld be next in line for management??!!

PLz explain.

nerve stimulation for prognosis is done after 2weeks and maximum for 5 weeks to know whether nerve is regenerating completely or not
