spleen ''just palpable'' is considered normal upto 2-3 months...

it's +nt in 35% term baby & about 10% infants..

#ENLARGED SPLEEN is graded lk this---

GRADE 1--nt palpable even wth deep respiration

GRADE 2--palpable wth deep inspiration With lowest tip just below costal margine

GRADE 3--below costal margine bt lowest tip nt beyond a horizontal line half-way b/w costal margine & umblicus

GRADE 4--lowest tip AL LEVEL OF UMBLICUS

GRADE 5--lowest tip below umblicus bt nt beyond a horizontal line half-way b/w umblicua & pubic symphysis

GRADE 6--LEVEL BELOW GRADE 5

i think it's helpful...unlike this LIVER ENLARGEMENT DONT DEPENDS ON LANDMARKS bt on liver span..

at i week, liver span 4.5-5 cm is normal, wich increases upto 6.0-6.5 in female & 7-8 cm in male by 12 yrs --------> greater than this is abnormal.
