Primary amenorrhoea is defined as failure of onset of menstruation by age of 16 years in face of normal SSCs or by age of 14 years in absence of SSCs..

Turner's is the commonest cause of primary amenorrhoea, the second most common being Meyer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome(absent vagina with non-functioning uterus).

Other syndromes associated are:

1. Swyer's syndrome-46 XY gonadal dysgenesis
2. Savage syndrome-Gn resistant ovary syndrome
3. Kallman's(olfactogenital) syndrome- isolated deficiency of GnRH with olfactory dysfuncion, due to maldevelopment of neurons in arcuate nucleus of hypothalamus
4. Simmond's disease
5. Chiari-Frommel syndrome
6. Forbes-Albright syndrome
4,5,6 are hypopituitary states..
7. Frohlich syndrome- primary amenorrhoea, obesity & lethargy.
8. Layrence-Moon-Biedl syndrome-primary amenorrhoea, polydactily, retinitis pigmentosa & mental insufficiency
