Dear Friends,

I am writing for the first time and i think it is important to share our experinces with others as it help you to success. let me start with problems of Visa extension. There is no uniformity in giving extension and it all depend on your luck.I had to extend my visa twice in last 5 months and i am going to extend it for the third time in August. My PLAB visa was expiring on March 17th and i applied with letter of an attachment for 1 month (also wrote that i am planning to write MRCP ) and they gave me 40 days( 10 days extra to pack my things back!). I called home office , only to get areply that they cant give more and they can not assume that I
will be writing MRCP in May ( one cannot apply for MRCP 3 months earlier). When i applied for the second time i had 3 1/2 months attachment , still they gave me an extension just to complete that( this time no extra days to pack my things!)and surprisingly my visa
status was student visa. I ignored that for a while but later when i thought of doing some part time job (obviously due to financial problems)i called home office to confirm visa status. They said it was a mistake and i have to get it corrected. As its time for me to extend it again( current visa expires on August 1st)i didnt try that. This time I am writing MRCP on sep 21 and have an attachment from october 25th to Feb 25th. I called home office to know how much extension they will give this time. They said,
because there is a break from Sep 21st to Oct 25th I may be asked to go back on Sep 26th and to apply again(if i want to come back). So as i said erlier there is no rules and regulations as far as visa extension is concerened. Looking back i think i have made one mistake. applying by post. people are saying it is allways better to go directly to croydon.God knows!
And in my friend's case he can not extend visa with MRCP , because he wont get admit card that early. I had written a letter to royal college to know whether they can send admit card early so that i can use it for visa extension. but they said, NO . They can give an acknowledgment letter in 3 weeks time , if we apply earlier. So u can try to get such an acknowledgment letter

Anyway best of luck with your application.
Dr. Rajesh
