Barium enema is the investigation of choice which sometimes reduce the intussusception. But in experienced hands U/S abdomen is also very useful to diagnose.

the most important test in intussuseption is 'contrast enema' which is diagnostic and therapeutic in60-80percent of cases............contrast enema, either using barium or air, however should not be attempted until the pt. is not resuscitated enough to allow an operative procedure.barium enema will not reduce gangrenous bowel. 8)

Ans: B.Barium meal

In question is saying about sausage shape mass around umbilicus--- therefore we can think about ileoileal intussesception. So, barium enema IS NOT useful for it. Barium meal could be reasonable.

Barium enema, sure!

It's intussusception, & enema might be of therapeutic value...
