UPSC cancels civil service prelim exam
New Delhi, May 16 - The Union Public Service Commission - Tuesday cancelled the civil services - examination for public administration due to a problem in tallying the number of question papers at one centre and set June 18 as a new date.

The examination had taken place May 14 across the country. According to a UPSC official, there was 'no question' of any leakage or malpractice in the examination.

The decision to cancel the exam was taken to retain the total confidence of diligent candidates and maintain the integrity of the examination, said a UPSC official.

'Though it will create inconvenience to thousands of candidates, yet ensuring transparency is our motive. We do not want to create any confusion in their mind,' said the official, adding that the details of the retest along with new admission cards will be dispatched well ahead of time.

Tens of thousands of candidates appear for the competitive exam for selection into the prestigious civil services.
