dear dr. malik
sorry for this late reply
well if u are thinking of PDA handset as a replacement for laptop , u are still not clear with the concept. laptop has immense applications and functions and what pda can do is just a miniscule part of it, comparision comes only when u have 2 things of comaprable size or have common platform.
yes u can operate windows and some internet on ur pda handset but its applications and extensions are very limited, the software for the handsets is different and the windows u load are task specific with lots of restrictions or u can say without the features which u have on laptop and or desktop.
Pda has its own standing and utility, as u are connected for most of the part and u can handle important things and can work in cojuction with ur laptop.
as regards sites are concerened to be viewd, u can assess any internet site, rating woulddepend on ur need and the data and info on site, i don't think that i can have a seperate rating for PDA's.
buddy a piece of advice, before invisting in any pda do see sont-eriscssons P990i .

Reason why I bought T290i is that I need a cellular for some hard work (something I can't weep for) . I putt off my upgrade plans for an Imate instead of a cellular..just in the lag phase between I should work it out with this mobile for almost a year till I upgrade to Imate.it was a fair deal at almost as low as 86$.

Have been using a KROME spy, works well with my setting.
Has a decent camera so my pre and post clinical pics are documented
Also have a few applications for pt data and records
more over has an extensive medicine databse with dosage and reactions so can look up when i need
I wish there was a clinical hand book like harrison
But has made life a little bit easy

Having a PDA is really handy these days. In a busy hospital rounds, the PDA becomes an important and essential tool to make our lives easier and more efficient. For me, the PDA is useful in a few aspects:
1. Drug Dosage : I can refer to the correct drug dosages at anytime, anywhere. And with the built-in calculator, I can calculate the correct dosage for pediatric patients. Programs like Skyscape softwares are invaluable too!
2. Revision : During free time, I do my revision using the PDA; reading texts from Nelson Pediatrics, and also eMedicine texts which I "clipped" from the web (using iSiloX), and also self-made notes using PhatNotes.
3. Leisure : All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy; so games are essential too! Bejeweled2 and Sudoku are both my favourite games. Occasionally I will play Monopoly to kill time!
4. Internet : These days internet has become part and parcel of our lives. One cannot be apart from internet. Whether you use ur GPRS to go online, or hang around in free WiFi zones at various hotspots; internet is the way to go -- google for just anything in mind; or try out Wikipedia to search for information!
5. PIM : Contacts and ToDo's are well organised in the PDA, and it's paperless afterall! Environmental friendly! The "Find" function in PDA can search for any name and contacts in just a matter of seconds; whereas conventional way of using diary and paper organizer is just too tedious when it comes to search mode!
I agree there are lots of other functions which a PDA is incomparable to a laptop/desktop, however, as a doctor who spends most of his/her time in the hospital running around -- PDA is the way to go! Afterall, we wont want to carry around a 3-4 lb laptop on our shoulders all the time!
For all doctors out there, I strongly recommend a PDA, to organize your life, and to make u less stressful! (C'mon, let it be your "peripheral brain"! Your brain is more useful in other decision making tasks!)
