hi everybody ,can anyone tell me the scope after DPM ?can i get DNB post easily or it is tough to get? what are the job prospects after DPM alone?plz help me out...thanks...

there are 18seats in Psychiatry as per DNB sources.
students from good colleges like NIMHANS , CPRI, and CMC dont have difficulty in getting the DNB seats.
dpm as such is good but initially you should work under an experienced psychiatrist since most of the treatment is by counselling.

as per reliable sources, Psychiatry is better in nair next 2kem.
faculty is good in nair
however pls make necessary checks before taking your decision.

thanks neodoc.. yes i m state ranker, rank is not so good but hoping that will get DPM in next round..lets see what happens..as Psychiatry is my sub of choice hoping for the best..thanks anyway..

its not a bad idea to do DPM and then go for DNB . but there are very few DNB seats under accredited institutions. now that medical colleges can have both MD and DNB together provided they fulfil some criteria(refer to NBE website), you can also try to do DNB there.
i beg to differ with neodoc that psychiatric treatment is all about counselling. its one of hte most researched field right now and its an option if one wants to stick to counselling alone. but of course its wise to get some experience before starting ur own practice.
my suggestion-its not a good idea to start practice after dpm. have a masters pls.
