Yes, we can say delayed fontanelle closure only after 6 months for posterior fontanelle, so the nearest ans should be 1 yr...

But is the closure same as ossification?

hi, there.
ref ; nelson 17th edition pg no. 1974.
" infant has two fontanelles at birth. diamond shapes anterior fontanelle ad postr fontanelle.
posterior fontanelle is usuALLY CLOSED AT BIRTH, OR AT MOST ADMIT THE TIP OF A FINGER.
the postrerior fontanelle is usually closed and non-palpable after the the first 6-8weeks of life
its persistence suggests the possibility of underlying hydrocephalus or congenital hypothyroidism.

average time of closure of anterior fontanele is 18 months but may normally close as early as 9 months.
