Hi!

I am really confused as first time applied for GPVTS. I have seven months OBG experience from backhome so keeping that in mind applied for 24 months programme.

Which letter do i need to prove that it will count towards GP training ???

which duration is easy to get into ??? what r the pros n cons of shorter and 3 yrs programmes???

Any Help!!!!!!!!!!

Hi

If you want to do shorter gpvts programmes you have to contact PMETB or Royal college of GP. They will tell you that whether your experience is countable towards gp training or not.

gpvts ..... means gp training !!!! so u canot be a gp until u do gpvts and its only after the training that u will be able to take the MRCGP and start working as a gp in uk.
now regarding the 7 months Obs Gynae .... the GPVTS is for 3 years . if u have 7 months experience it still means that u will have to do more than 24 months of training. and that too only if the college considers ur earlier taaining valid for gpvts . PMETB should give u the advise on that .
pros and cons of 3 yr training.... well these days its so difficult to get jobs that many senior doctors even after having many years experience in uk go for the 3 years training , first to secure a job for 3 years and then to get into the flow . a shorter scheme suits many who have valid training this way they can take the MRCGP exams quickly and entre the main gp stream.
and the posts available for the short or full time training , that depends on how many applications of each typer the deanery chooses for their posts.its not definite
now dear its up to all u guys to decide what ever suits u. By the way i am doing my 3 yrs gpvts as i had no previous training experience to count towards it. hope that answers ur questions.
