If amblyopia is not detected until after early childhood, treatment may not be successful. Amblyopia caused by cloudiness of the eye tissues needs to be detected and treated extremely early — within the first two months of life — in order to be treated successfully.

However recent studies show that amblyopi can be successfuly treated till the age of 17.

< 5years, since that is the amblyogenic age.
Patching of the normal eye need to be done, 1 week per year age of the child. Must be alert to the possibility of developing amlyopia in the occluded eye. Patching continued till the visual acuity is equal in both eyes, or shows no improvement after 3 compliant cycles.

the answer is (A) less than 5 years.
amblyopia should be diagnosed and corrected as early as possible becoz the development of the visual system is crucial between 0-9 years, and its develops fully between 6-9 years.
moreover if patching is delayed child can loss vision in the amblyopic eye.

amblyopia is not like other disease.it shud be treated as early possible.
