Quick Scroll Please Help = Should I Join OR Not? 07.29.06 (2 years ago) #1

I have cleared the Short Service Commission interview & the medical fittness test for Short Service Commission Entry 2006. I have given Army as 1st preference followed by Air Force & then Navy. Now I am waiting for the appointment letter.
My study is not enough to score a good rank in All India & State PG entrance. All I can do is to join DNB or SSC.
My lot many serving medical officers & Ex-servicemen have told me that getting permanent commission is very difficult. So what to do as MBBS in 2012 after finishing SSC?
Please guide me what to do? Should I join SSC or DNB ?

As for reservation for Ex - SSC , there is no fixed percentage of seats but they will be in priority-4. That means whatever seats remain after the first 3 priorities will be given to ex-ssc. The approximate no. of seats would be in the range of 05 to 15 seats in each of the 04 institutes of armed forces and you can appear at only one of the four places. the priorities are as follows :

(a) Priority-I - AMC Officers in permanent commision detailed on advance specialist course/other courses

(b) Priority-II - Foreign students sponsored by Government - On approval of DGAFMS.

(c) Priority–III - Medical Officers sponsored by Para Military Organisation, Union Territories & Govt of Tripura - Prior approval of DGAFMS and a sponsorship certificate mentioning the subject from respective training head of organization concerned is mandatory.

(d) Priority-IV - Ex SSC AMC Officers released from service after completion of contractual service within three years after their release from service.

(e) Priority–V - Civilian candidates willing to serve in the Armed Forces Medical Services Civilian candidates will have to submit a bond of Rs. 5 lacs at the time of admission and have to be medically fit to the standard required for commission in Armed Forces Medical Services.
