Hi

I wonder if you could offer me any ideas on a problem I have. I am now a 23 year old man and am in good health. For quite a few years (probably since around aged 14) I have had several flat patches on my scalp. My hair is now thinning a little so they are more obvious and I wonder what they are and what can be done about them. They isolated flat patches approx 1cm in diameter over the scalp (exclusively on the hairy part). They are circular and are brown in colour (not red) with a darker brown rim on the outside and central clearing. I am not sure but I think I have a new one coming up as well. In total I think there about probably about 8 on my scalp, not all of them that large. I have no other symptoms from them – they don’t itch, bleed or anything like that, and I’m not concerned that they may be malignant. I just wonder what they are and what can be done about them as they are quite unsightly.

Also quite recently (the past few weeks) I have started to get quite a dry flaky scalp. I think this is unrelated to that problem – but what is the best way to deal with the dry scalp? I am already using anti-dandruff shampoo for a few weeks but that hasn’t helped much.

I tried to take a photo but it didn’t come out well.

ITS better if u can send photograph as Dermatology is all what u see and judge.... there are two possibilites i think...1, psoriasis. 2, Discoid lupus erythematosus
