I am in urgent need of some Visa help for entry into the UK, and I googled UK Visas and this was the first site that came up!!!!
My friend is Canadian and has secured an unpaid internship at CNN in London. She applied for a working holiday visa, and was declined b/c she stated that her sole reason for coming here was to intern at CNN.
I have called all of the applicable departments in the UK regarding visas and nobody seems to know what she needs in order to gain entry into the UK to intern.
Basically, she is worried that she will be declined entry b/c her passport has been stamped by the UK embassy in Canada
as having been denied a working holiday visa.
The UK Visa service has been inconsistent. First they said she needs a visa, then i called again, and they said she will not need a visa, but needs a TWES working permit. I called TWES and they said that TWES is for PAID work only, and the lady on the phone stated that she liikely will not need a visa, simply a letter to show the immigration officer at the airport that she will be working unpaid at CNN for a 4-6 week period.
So now she is confused. It is my understanding that a visa is NOT needed for a short term (4-6 week) unpaid internship, but of course, she doens't want to come to the UK And get turned away.
Any ideas? I apologize that this is not medical related, but any help would be extremely appreciated.

that whats the longest duration she can stay in uk. if she she is allowed to stay in uk as a visitor for atleast 6 months then she wouldnt need any other visa.
