gas is found in the SUBSEROSA & IN THE MESENTRIC SIDE of the bowel!!!


causes of gas in the colonic wall

BOWEL NECROSIS

NEC
ischemia & infarction
neutropenic colitis
sepsis
emphysematous gastritiscaustic ingestion


MUCOSAL DISRUPTION

pyloric obstruction
bowel obstruction
blunt abd trauma
trauma of child abuse
hirschsprung d/s
crhon's d/s
ulcerative colitis


INCREASED MUCOSAL PERMEABILITY

immunotherapy - GVHD , BMT , organ transplantation
AIDS enterocolitis
steroid therapy
chemotherapy
collagen vas d/s


PULMONARY D/S

asthma
CPOD
cystic fibrosis
chest trauma
