Quick Scroll any suggestions? 08.20.07 (1 year ago) #1

Hi to all fellow Ob/Gyn residents out there.
I have a question and I hope someone out there has any good and useful advice for my problem.
I am doing my residency in Ob/Gyn, and I am currently in my first year. A fellow resident who is R1, same as me, is a bit of a smart alec and his modus operandi is to make himself look good by demoralising and demeriting the others around him who are of the same level. He did the same to another resident who eventually left the team to work with another team. Now he is doing the same to me, at increasingly dangerous levels. He does not work as hard as he shows it, and I on the other hand do my job without having to show off about how hard I work. He goes home early when he is post duty, and I do the work left behind by him. But when on rare occasions I ask him to help me out when I am post duty, he first asks for an hour to rest for himself ( is he the one who was post duty or me? ) and then when he does cover for my duties, he gets me into trouble and badmouths me in front of the specialists. And at times they believe him as he is a guy and I am a girl, especially if the specialist is also a man. What should I do? How can I protect myself from getting my reputation thrashed, and my peace of mind safe?
If anyone has any helpful ideas, please, I am willing to hear them. Unfortunately, there is no system where I can talk about this to anyone here at the hospital.
Thanks in advance.
