Gaucher's disease has an autosomal recessive pattern of inheritance. A deficiency of -glucocerebrosidase causes an accumulation of sphingolipid within phagocytic cells throughout the body

Bone marrow aspirates reveal typical Gaucher cells, which have an eccentric nucleus and periodic acid-Schiff (PAS)-positive inclusions,

The production of a recombinant form of the enzyme glucocerebrosidase (imiglucerase) for intravenous administration on a regular basis now permits a reduction in total body stores of glycolipid

All patients with Gaucher disease have nonuniform infiltration of bone marrow by lipid-laden macrophages, termed Gaucher cells.----CMDT & others
