IS IT ALL EXCEPT

THEN ERYTHROPOETINE

Oxygen dissociation is shifted to the left by fetal haemoglobin. The fetal haemoglobin appears to have similar affinity for oxygen to adult human haemoglobin; however there appears to be a low binding of 2,3 DPG to fetal haemoglobin.

The curve is shifted irreversibly to the left with carbon monoxide.

carbon monoxide
reduced 2,3 DPG
alkalosis

O2 is released in the tissues where the pO2 is low. In this situation Hb has a low affinity for oxygen. Other factors may cause a further reduction in Hb affinity for oxygen - ie a lower oxygen saturation for a given pO2. Factors which result in shifting of the oxygen-dissociation curve to the right include increased concentration of pCO2, acidosis, raised temperature and high concentrations of 2,3 diphosphoglycerate (2,3 DPG ). These factors, in effect, cause the Hb to give up oxygen more readily.

hypercapnia
acidosis
raised 2,3 DPG

ERYTHROPOITIN INCREASES HEMOGLOBIN.
INCREASED HEMOGLOBIN HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE CURVE.?

increase temperature ( but what is the baseline )example increase temp. may be from 36.4 to 37.2 and so on. the question is not specific enough.

there is some mistake in the question..... first let us know the conditions that cause shift to right and shift to left of oxygen-Hb dissociation curve

conditions that affect O2-Hb dissociation curve

SHIFT TO RIGHT

--> implies decreased O2 affinity to Hb
--> O2 liberate easily from Hb to tissues
--> increased availability of O2 to tissues
here--> P50 also increases

conditions that cause shift to right
1.Increase in temperature
2.Increase in P CO 2 or hypercarbia
3.Increase in 2,3-BPG (2,3-Biphosphoglycerate)
4.Increase in [H+] -->i.e., PH decrease (or) acidosis

5.Sickle Hb

6.Exercise
7.High altitude
8.Aneamia
9.Diseases with chronic hypoxia
10.Thyroid harmone
11.Growth harmone
12.Androgens

conditions 6 to 12 raise 2,3-BPG levels so they inturn shift the curve to right

SHIFT TO LEFT

shift to left implies
-->increased O2 affinity to Hb
-->O2 is not easily liberated from Hb to tissues
-->tissue hypoxia

conditions that cause shift to left
1.Decrease in temperature
2.Decrease in P CO 2
3.Decrease in 2,3-BPG
4.Decrease in [H+] -->i.e.o, PH increase (or) alkalosis

5.Increased Fetal Hb
6.Blood Transfusion (since 2,3-BPG levels decrease in stored blood)
7.Carbonmonooxide poisoning (or) increase in CO levels
