Dear Friend, For gynec, the best degree is MD/MS from a medical college, which is MCI and university recognised. second best option is DGO from same place. third best option is primary DNB
from a private hospital.
If you do your PG from a medical college, you may or may not get good exposure, depending from where you do it, but DNB
candidates, especially in south are exploited. many are made to do CMO jobs. personel chaprasi jobs of influencial consultants. but they pass DNB
because, their DNB
guides are influencial. so they learn all tricks of the trade, but not the subject per se.....
Now coming to DAWN DGO. it is just a private exam. it is a calcutta based body and anybody with some 2-3 years work in OBGY can give the exam. something like CPS, FCPS in Mumbai. it is obviously not MCI or any University recognised. The best option is MD/MS remember, provided it is in a reputed college, which is MCI and Univ recognised.
Now, the scope is very difficult to say. I am an MD from Mumbai Univ, and am doing just a parttime for Rs.10k/month. if you are from a small town with no qualified gynecs,or, if you are going to inherit somebody's gynec practice, then, you can go for Dawn DGO, if you dont get regular MS/MD/DGO. But Dawn DGO will not get you a Teaching job or Govt job, or specialist jobs in cities, where there are many MDs who are unemployed. this is the tragedy of our country today.
