Quick Scroll Strike by RDA of BHU 12.08.07 (10 months ago) #1

RDA of BHU is on strike since 29th nov. with suspension of strike for 72 hours ,which was given to the university authorities to meet their demands.
It all started when a patients attendant who is actually son of vice chancellor of Kashi vidyapeeth(a university in varanasi) and is also professor of Agriculture department of BHU slapped a resident doctor and misbehaved with a consultant of Anaesthesia department. His mother was given VIP treatment in BHU for last 45 days and had been prognosticated several times by the doctors here.she was shifted to ICU and the she was being transferred to radiology suit for Ct scan of head.On the way outside ICU she developed cardiac arrest. Her attendants came in the ICU and slapped the resident working over there and misbehaved with consultant.

Though we should have immediately gathered and gone and beaten the attendant black and blue but somehow it didnt materialise.we went on strike with demand of immediate suspension of that professor.he is also connected with some MLAs and MPs so no action was taken against him. When we intensified the movement then an FIr was lodged against him ,however due to political pressure the officer in charge of the FIR went on leave from next day.The university official also tried to ignore the issue and asked us to suspend the strike and formed a fact finding commitee.we were assured that sternest action will be taken against him.But it proved to be an eyewash and nothing was done for 72 hours. Some teacher on the contrary started to pressurise us to negotiate with them saying that they are ready to give an apology letter and we should call of strike for the sake of suffering humanity.

We ,however ,resumed the strike and intensified it further.with every passing hours the hospital and university administration are coming to us with the plea to call off the strike.however they have still not fulfilled our demand of suspending him. They are saying that the commitee will decide the matter and without their report they cant take any action against him.Now they are saying that they will send a showcause notice to him asking him to explain his stand on the issue. But they are not giving anything in written.

today their is meeting of all teahers to give their opinion on this matter and to decide whether hospital should be closed.Though all teachers are withus and their general opinion is that we should have settled the matter by beating him then and there only, but they cant openly ask us to continue the strike.

I ask the readers to provide us valuable suggestion to tackle this problem. What measures should be taken to curb this problem of violence on duty hours by the attendants.Waitng for the reply of expert and senior members.
