not true

a]decorticate rigidity is greater than decerebrate rigidity
b]righting reflexes are absent in decerebrate animal
c]visual righting reflex is present in thalamic animal
d]decorticate rigidity is seen only when the animal is at rest

ans given is [a].i cud not find the reason in ganong

also what abt b? i understood from ganong that eventho cortex is abset righting reflexes can be present like that mediated by labyrinth and visual stimuli

pls clarify

Decerebrate rigidity is seen when the seperation from the body is at the level of the brain stem and decorticate rigidity is when seperation is at the level of the cortex....so which do u think is more dangerous??....decerebrate rite...brain death....righting reflexes can b present in decorticate animal but not in decerbrate since the brain stem(sup colliculus)..is reqd there...

yes , i got it, righting reflexes are in most part integrated in midbrain, and in decerebrate animal, section is made at the upper border of pons, so the reflex will be absent.
