Hi,

Just attended the CMC PG interview under General Medicine. Thought i would share some info with you guys.

The test started early at 8. Had a OSCE round with 25 stations of which 13 were real stations.... the other 12 were just rest stations. Each station has a question with 3 or 4 related questions. Questions were moderately tough... the thing which makes them extremely tough was the time limitation.... only one and a half minute per station. Reading the full page length question itself takes >45 seconds!

There were about 3 'demo' stations too where the professors would assess your skills, again within one and a half minutes.

Just will list the station topics:
1. Demo station on 7th nerve exam
2. Demo station on history taking of a young male with polyarthritis
3. Demo station on CPR
4. Indentification of an instrument (i thought it was liver biopsy needle, not sure)
5. Case of Anthrax
6. Case of panic attack
7. ECG of WPW syndrome
8. Case of extrahepatic biliary obstruction... i couldn't make out the cause
9. Case of malignant hyperthermia
10. PSM question on calculation of relative and attributable risk
11. ??????
12. ??????
13. ??????

The questions were usually: What is the diagnosis? What are the d/d? What is the DOC?

After this was a viva session where questions were asked on your performance in your previous academics. Also few technical questions here and there. Questions were moderate to tough. Approx viva time was about ten minutes.

About preparations, i don't think any specific preparation would help in this kind of exam. What you have studied properly in the past 5 yrs of MBBS will help you out, not one last week's study.

Nothing much you can prepare actually.... Just be alert and frank and hope for the best....
