hi trumanin
I shall reply to ur queries step by step.
I have passed frcr1 last december, this is a fellowship frm royal college and doesnt guarentee u a job in u.k
if u r a non uk graduate or trainee u need gmc registration, and moreover there r no spr posts directly in radiology,,u need to work in int.med or surgery to enter radiology atleast 2 yrs in u.k
so, i presume u r from india,,,now if u wish to appear for this exam u need some radiology training..
The First FRCR Examination expects candidates to have gained a knowledge of radiation physics, to understand the principles of diagnostic x-ray and radionuclide equipment and the various UK legislation affecting the use of ionising radiations in the medical environment.
Applicants need to hold a formal clinical radiology training post, in which they are actively receiving clinical radiology training, (or have held such a post in the past) in order to enter the First FRCR Examination. The examination is held three times a year, normally in the second week of each of March, June and December. further info can be obtained frm
Now abt the exam,,,
ya,its not that easy as one thinks,,,reasons
1)the attempts r only 3 ,,after that u r not eligible for frcr
2)the physics and regulations need lot of understanding and cramming of various numerical values,,,so its not an easy exam
3)u need atleast 6 months of dedicated preparation with including sufficient revisions and mock tests.....opinions vary, but i advise atleast 6 months is must to master everything.I spent more time for it.
Now abt books.
1) christensons,,radiological physics,,,,u must read the syllabus frm it to understand everything included (nuclear medicine is not given in this book)except nuc.med u can go thru other topics in details,,believe me its a wonder book,,though it may take some time
2) then comes the role of FARR radiological physics,,
u need to master this book.....every line can be a potential mcq frm it.
3) to solve mcqs and practice the models..
a)MONIKA KHANNA
b)GET THROUGH FRCR BY DAMINAN TOLAN
c) any other mcq book available will be sufficient like gupta,q base....but there r many errors in it..
hpe this solves ur query
If anything dont hesitate to ask,,,we r here to help each other
