Government has sanctioned a sum of Rs 60.81 crore for Pt. B.D. Sharma, PGIMS, Rohtak to promote the medical education, research and training in the Institute which would go a long way in providing qualitative service and better helthcare facilities to the patients of the State.
Efforts were being made to make the PGIMS, Rohtak, a leading institute of the country so that this Institute could earn a name in the field of Medical Education world over.
Government had also accorded sanction to establish the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care and Regional Institute of Opthalmology at a cost of Rs 7 crore. Besides, modern equipments for treatment of retinal diseases costing Rs 44 lakh had been purchased besides the order of purchase the equipments for various departments costing Rs 69 lakh had also been placed.

Government had also accorded sanction to start DNB
Bachelor of Physiotherapy, Dental Hygienist, Dental and Mechanic Courses in various departments of the Institute. The Department of Radiotherapy and Radiodiagnosis had been strengthened by providing the facilities of Brachytherapy and Cobalt Therapy at a cost of Rs 3.50 crore so that early cure of cancer cases could be ensured. The expansion of accidential and emergency services, construction of mother and child hospital, 100 bedded mental hospital and hostel for boys and girls were being constructed.
A Digital X-Ray System had been installed in the institute at a cost of Rs 2.90 crore besides Memmography machine had also been installed to diagnose breast cancer at a cost of Rs 91 lakh. The new machinery and equipments worth Rs 11.30 crore had been purchased during last two years for investigation and treatment of the patients which included digital x-ray units, high frequency mobile x-rays and blood irradiatory Gamma Cell.
The extension of western block of accident and emergency department was also being made at a cost of Rs 18.94 crore. Similarly, Department of Tele Medicine had installed the facilities of video conferencing at a cost of Rs 17.11 lakh so that the video conferencing might be made for the exchange of views with PGI, Chandigarh and AIIMS
, New Delhi for better cure of the patients.
