Well its weird its above my head, whats the meaning of inspector Bell's dreams? Why does he have to retire? Senior Police officer getting disillusioned with violence, strange.. Imo good movie but not worth the ratings it gets

The entire movie is based on Bell, and his perception of the world before his time, and during and after. His father was a sheriff too, and there wasnt much violence during his time, or during Bell's young days. Bell is incapable of saving Moss and his wife, and in so many ways, he is able to figure out what and how Chigurh is.
His dreams can be interpreted in many ways, and on imdb boards, you can find many people drawing metaphors, analogies, euphemisms and subtle meanings out of the movie's ending as well as some scenes. This movie takes place in 1980.
Bell's dreams probably signify ( the dreams are open to interpretation, and can have many meanings ) that he is too old for this bloodshed, and that his father is waiting for him some place safe. It might also signify that his father is waiting to judge Ed Tom's life and his contribution to the society. Or that Ed is reflecting on his entire life.
Anyway, I just watched There Will be Blood, and DDL's performance is mind blowing. But the movie is overrated again.
And I thought, both the movies werent named appropriately. I guess 'There Will Be Blood' should have been named 'No Country for Oil Men', while 'No Country for Old Men' should have been named 'There Will be Blood'. LOL
Interesting Trivia, Both movies were being shot next to each other, and the derrick blast shot in TWBB actually interrupted the shooting of NCFOM for day or two.

I never read ayn rand, so i have no idea. I liked both movies, even saw Sweeney Todd, it makes me wonder about Director Tim Burton. He loves making such dark movies, filled with gore. A great director, but a scary imagination. He looks scary too.
