all steps for paediatric life support:
1.I w'll check the environment is safe for me and for the patient.
2. I presume that there is no cervical injury.
3. I'll note the time.
4. I'll ask the patient by jerking his shoulder "are you alright?".
5. No response (tell this to the examiner)
6. I'll shout for help( loudly) HELP! HELP! HELP! in three different directions.
7. Now I'll check airway,by inspecting the mouth and will remove any obvious foreign body under direct vision ( no blind finger sweep).
8. Now I'll head tilt , chin lift into the sniffing position and will look ,listen and feel for breathing for 10 sec.
9. No signs of breathing so now I'll give 5 rescue breath in head lift and chin lift position.
10.Now i'll check carotid for 10 sec. If pulse is less than 60/min I'll start chest compressions-1 finger breadth above xiphisternum.
11. I'll give 15 chest compressions :2 rescue breaths (do it up to 1 minute. Ideally we should complete 6 cycles in 1 minute).
12. After that we will call to the 2222 and make the statement that : this is paediatric cardiac arrest call ,I am doctor...................on paediatric ward,I have a collapsed child in ward and I need the paediatric cardiac arrest team now, could you please repeat? Thanks.
13. I'll come back to the patient look for any signs of breathing ,if not continue my CPR but will start with 2 rescue breath and then will do the 15 compressions.
14. When I'll stop?
When the crash team arrives.( I'll join them)
If patient shows signs of life(I'll put the patient in to left lateral position, recovery position).
If I'll exhaust.
give me a feed back please.
