hello....
could anyone please tell me about a field called interventional radiology?
what are its prospects? which colleges in india offer postgrad courses in this subject(md or DNB ) ? or is it a superspaciality branch?

Interv Rad is a superspeciality/offered as a fellowship only(post md/DNB only)
Nims hyd-offers 1 year fellowship
CMC Vellore also offers 1 year
Srichitra & nimahans & AIIMS offer neuroradiology+ inetrve rad(neuro related only) as DM after DNB /md for 3 years.
Am not sure of the name a hospital in coimbatore offers 1 year inetrv rad

so its only a post MD DNB ? there is no provision of post MBBS DNB in this branch?

dear drpierre,
could you tell me how i could get into interventional radiology following dmrd....can i do a fellowship after dmrd, DNB .
following this what are my prospects of getting a job with a big institution...as most prefer an md candidate over a dmrd, DNB candidate.
kindly reply asap..as ur guidance would help me chose my subject...as i may get a dmrd seat though no possibility of getting a DNB ..

As i mentioned earlier inetrvent radio is post md or DNB & with DM in interventional radio even for fellowship u need the above qualif.Try to get ur interv from srichitra or NIMHANS -these r the best in the country not to forget AIIMS .With just a dellowship u may not get enuff hands on as its just for a year!!! And as far as job prospects-its nothing to do with md/DNB if u r confident about ur job & are willing to work at unearthly hours-not to mention competition frm felow surgeons!!! this job is yours!!
