i have got the job as a trust SHO in Obs
& Gynae
near LONDON since february. now i have received another interview call from Northern Ireland
for SHO IN Obs
& Gynae
. I am very confused whether i shud attend the interview or not. becoz if i attend it and offered the post and i don't take it, then the interview expenses will not be payable. the problem with this post near london is that it is a trust post. But i have heard that once u go to Ireland
, its difficult to get job in England or near.
Kindly somebody advise me, about what shud i do.
thanx in advance
cheers

Usually the expenses are paid to all people invited to interview, not only the ones who are offered a job - check that and give it a try.

hey shalini,
unfortunately i am not quite acquainted with the obgy situation but one thing is for sure in thie country - if you are in a place with one job the chances of you getting a job in that area are maximum. i mean to say that if u are in london then u have more chances of getting a job in and around london..
so to some extent it is true that if u go to Ireland
you might get stuck there... but if u have good qualifications going with you like mrcog and some research and/or audits, i dont think you would hav any probs finding a job anywhere.
bottom line - i dont have a job yet and so my suggestion is not to lose an opportunity if u have one.
it may be your last one right ?
cheers

Dont ever commit the mistake of going to Ireland
, you have already got a job in england..you will definetely get more jobs in england, if you goto Ireland
you will in all probability be stuck there for the rest of your life.
I am also doing a trust grade job in surgery(it is my 1st job), i also had a shortlisting for a 2 year surgical rotation in Ireland
but my counsultant who is british advised me not to go to Ireland
if i want any kind of furure in this country, he said getting the 1st job is the toughest for overseas candidates, then things just keep happening.
rest is up to you.

What about jobs in Scotland? Does getting a first appointment up there limit your chances down in England?
