icon_rolleyes.gif hi i am mbbs graduate preparing for pg 2008, i want to knowfrom u that which branch will be better pharmac or med for clinical research.thanks.

if you are seriously thinking of clinical research then Pharama is your line. But after u hv joined and you find the line boring or something problematic then only option left to you is teaching (nowadays private colleges are paying very handsomely). And after joining a pharma company u have to travel extensively from one to another city( it may be u land at 2am in the morning due to some dealy and u again hv to tk a flight at 7 am to attend a CME in another city which I think is possibleupto a certain yrs but after a certain age becomes very hectic. Also regarding the food habits --u got to hv hotel foods which after a cerain age is really truoble some)
But advantage of having a degree in medicine is that the moment u feel that the job is not suiting u the next very moment u can kick the job and get into private practise as well as teaching.

But again pharma companies prefer MD Pharmacology than MD medicine. And doing MD medicine u become nothing but a glorified GP(if ur luck doesn't click to that extent)

So all depends upon ur mentality and personality

But my personal advice to is get degree in medicine and join clinical research and after a ceratin age if u feel quit the job and get bk to private practice

GOOD luck friend

I dont think ICRI is useful for us...its not recognized by MCI and rather than joining ICRI I think its better if you do a research project in a medical college to boost up your CV for USMLE
