Gold standard for acoustic neuroma is
a) contrast CT
b) contrast MRI
c) evoked potential

Audiometry is often the initial diagnostic test. Unilateral pure-tone sensorineural hearing loss with disproportionate loss of speech is suggestive of a retrocochlear lesion. Auditory brain stem response detects 95% of tumors- a delay in the latency of the V wave of 0.2 msec or greater is considered abnormal. MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING WITH GADOLINIUM ENHANCEMENT is the GOLD STANDARD for diagnosing Acoustic neuroma - Ref ENT secrets 3rd Edition

Quick Scroll Rasmussen's aneurysm.. 05.13.08 (1 month ago) #36

hi KAVISh n all,i've a doubt regarding this often repeated ques on "RASMUSSEN"S ANEURYSM", actually in my harrisson i had made a note that fr all cases in TB pulmonary affection the answer wud be bronchial art but the exception is ras..which is in pulm artery( i know net ref. is not so good, but when all references point to same thing i think it needs consideration), now going by an old AA explanations and all guides even after knowing that i too favoured bronchial,,but if u wud search on net,all papers and case reports even the one frm KEM points directly to pulm artery,, so 'm a bit confused as evrbdy is giving it as bronchial art, kindly give a good reference if anybdy can clear this doubt.

Quick Scroll macrocephaly with developmental delay 05.13.08 (1 month ago) #38

fr the ques macrocephaly with devlpmntl delay ,there's a refernce fr "MEGALENCEPHALY" on GHAI 6th edtn Pg.530 (i prefer refrences to be given frm simplest of our standard books)..it mentions metachromatic leukodystrophy as a cause, can that be the ans ,,though megalencephaly and macrocephaly are quite different terms i think.
