There are no non-Academic jobs available in US like those in UK.

There are certain para-medical jobs that people do like Physician assistants (you need to be certified as PA for that) and few others but you don't work as a doctor in real sense. Most programs accept it as a form of USCE but do not regard it very highly. In most cases (and 100% if its a paid job) these are available only to green card holders. Most often these are not paid and used as a tool to use IMGs to save some money by making them work for free in the name of externship opportunities.

Apart from these, you can NOT work as a physician unless you are licensed through a proper residency program.

Yes I forgot to add.. There are some jobs in Pharma industry as Medical officers where you can work as a part of clinical research team and can administer certain questionnaires etc on patients. But again this can not be clinical work as that requires you to be licensed in US.

Hi AshB ,

thanks alot for your answer , it was eloquent and great as usual , really appreciate it . to be honest i have just recognized this fact that There are no non-Academic jobs available in US like those in UK !!!

could you please tell me then , if USCE is as you described earlier , what is the significance of having training outside US in applying for residency programms there , i mean is it a big difference whether you have 1 -2 years of training as a resident doctor in a particular branch ( like surgey )in your home country or you don't have such training there , if the training in our home country isn't that important , then the whole issue of getting a residency will depend MAINLY ON THE USMLE SCORES AND COMPETETION , isn't that right ???
