Dr. Anil where are you? Dont abandon this forum, it is one of the best in rxpg..
Anyway i had a question for you.. I got my scores for step2 ck and it was 252.
I was quite happy till I found out that many people have scored 260s and some even 270s. (I dont know how far it is true..). Can you please give an idea of what the range of scores of you guys from AIIMS got??

hello sir,
first of all hearty congrats for your success. these days we hear a lot that
getting a residency is very tough as there are too many applicants for the vacancies. how far is it true ?

and one more question . what are the prospects of clinical branches ? [/list]

Mostly it is clinical branches that u get, including family medicine... And yes, it is getting tougher and tougher these days and that is primarily due to increased number of applicants.... So, u have to deal with the current situation in a better way and sometimes make ur own way....

Prospects of clinical branches depend on the type of branch...mostly people get medicine, peds, psych, family medicine....

scores really matter as far as getting a residency is concerned. I know it is not that hard getting a score of 94 or 95. But is it justified to put that extra effort and get to 99. And it is very costly too, given that most people who join Kaplan seem to end up with better scores.
Do programs make a difference between those who score 240 and those who score 235 if both have equally good USCE, LORs etc..

I will never suggest coaching unless u have enough money to do that... and i dont know a single person from AIIMS going for coaching... definitely it is good course but u have to see if u have enough time and money for the same.... If they have to take one applicat for a position, then they will mix up all the points and score will be one of them. it is all individual decisions.... also, how can u know that u will score good and how u will know that u r gonna get 235 and with extra effort 240... 240 plus is considered a very good score.... but other factors matter a lot.... and in close cases, interview might also be one of the factor.....

Fellowship route is not for everyone and u have to specify ur specialty... also, there are couple of replies above i guess which u might wanna look at... icon_smile.gif

Let me know if u have further questions...

Dear Friend,

I am not abandoning this forum but will be slow now as i m getting involved in multiple other academic activities...
Congrats on ur score, and this is very very good score..... i know a lot of AIIMS people with 260s and 270s.... but never compare urself like that... deal is done and now u should concentrate in next exam...even if u r 260s, u should work on getting USCE and LORs rather than thinking about who got 270s... if u ask me, u are in a very good position at the moment and all u have to do is to carry the momentum....

there are some websites like FMGAmerica, Americlerkship, FMGAffordable that seem to act as 'middlemen' for getting USCE.. I contacted one of them by phone and to my surprise they actually offered me an elective (I know how difficult only observerships are to get). They also charge exorbitant fees (definitely >4000-5000USD). And they also get the elective AT the time you want.. What is your opinion on these organizations?
I actually dont even know if this is an appropriate forum to discuss this:)
