you work in insurance company,you have a patient 65 years old.he has depression with H/O hospitalization twice after the death of his son.on routine x-ray chest you diagnose inoperable lung cancer.His wife tells you he is about to retire in 2 monthes,and they are planning a trip to USA.what are you going to do?
A-withhold the diagnosis because of his psychiatric condition
B-Tell only the wife to provide support and care
C-withhold the diagnosis because it is fatal and has no cure

Hi are you sure of the choices as in doing right it is said the indication of not telling the patient is when the patient present with unstable psychiatric condition (may be with siwicidal ideation) at the time of the diagnosis so you can postpone telling the truth till you stablize the pt. by medications or you admit the pt. and tell him when he is under observation , and it is obvious in the qs. that the pt is stable right now so you have to tell the truth
