If I remember right, it is a special formatting that was supported by old Hard Disks. The low level formatting can be done by using the manufacturer's software usually in drives supporting them. May I know why you are asking this for? Does your drive manual say anything about it or something?

I think googling with your drive specifications might definitely help you better. Or atleast give more details.

DOS format command does what is called high level formatting... and not low level formatting. This is all I can remember, will post more as and when I get to know more about this icon_smile.gif
