slow & deep,

shallow makes no sense abt rapid , to increase speed you must increase pressure so more collapsing of air way

Shallow & rapid
The resistance to airflow provided by the airways is increased as the lugs contract during exalation so a person who take shallows breath in a slightly overinflated chest will cut down on resistance factor but will have to breath rapidly to maintain minute volume of air- dats wat i think

COPD pt generally prolong there expiration as to decrease resistannce(hence slow).
abt deep; dead space is constant so shallow will only decrease alveolar ventilation & also have to breath deeply to maintain minute volume
